In his book, "What It Is Like to Go to War," New York Times best-selling author Karl Marlantes describes the effect that war has on members of our armed services. Mr. Marlantes, whose memoir is the subject of the Riverside Reads 2014 campaign, will speak at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium and Soldiers Memorial as part of Cal Humanities’ statewide initiative, War Comes Home. Let's start the conversation a little early and perhaps give Mr. Marlantes some additional food for thought. Let us, and him, know what we in Riverside can do to better support our veterans, including those whose service has included going to war. |
